Scholarship Information

The family of Gus LeBlanc is proud to offer this scholarship in his memory. His family seeks to honor and award students who demonstrate qualities of leadership, perseverance, character, and integrity, and who are committed to service or involvement within their community.

Application process and deadlines:

  • Applications open October 1, 2024 and close March 31, 2025

  • Applicants will write two short essay responses: one about how they embody qualities of leadership and demonstrate a commitment to community service/involvement, and another in which they discuss what their education means to them and how it will help them achieve their goals

  • Applicants will provide contact information for a recommender (a teacher, advisor, guidance counselor, administrator, or coach with a school district email address) who can speak to their academics, character and integrity

Applicants must:

  • Be high school seniors on track to graduate from a public Androscoggin Valley high school (Edward Little, Leavitt Area, Lewiston, Lisbon, Oak Hill, or Poland Regional) with plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university

  • Demonstrate qualities of leadership, perseverance, character, and integrity

  • Demonstrate a commitment to service or involvement within the community

Ready to apply?

Review and decision process:

  • One or more scholarships of at least $500 will be awarded

  • Recipient(s) will be chosen by the scholarship founders: Christina Morse, Patricia LeBlanc, and Nicholas LeBlanc and possibly other evaluators to be determined

  • Applications will be blind-reviewed (without names attached)

  • Anticipated decision date is May 9, 2025 (though recipients may not be announced until their high school awards/scholarship nights)
